General Hospital's Genie Francis and Jonathan Jackson Set to Reunite Onscreen for First Time in Nearly 10 Years

After almost a decade, the Spencer family will be back together on screen!

Genie Francis will officially return to General Hospital next week on Oct. 9, she reprises her role as Laura Spencer, PEOPLE has learned.

The actress, 62, will appear alongside Jonathan Jackson, who plays her son Lucky, whom she shares with Luke (Tony Geary), in the first time the two will appear together on screen since 2015.

Since joining GH In 1977, Francis appeared on the soap opera in more than 1,700 episodes; Jackson, meanwhile, joined the cast in 1993 and has also returned to his character over the years.

After acting Avery Barkley in Nashville during its six-year run, which ended in 2018, Jackson, 42, appeared in the family drama 2024. Unsung Hero before deciding to return to GH.

Over the years, Jackson’s work on the long-running soap has earned him five Daytime Emmy Awards; actors Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan stepped into the role of Lucky when he was gone.

In June, Jackson took to Instagram to share the news of his return to the popular series with fans.

“I’m super excited and can’t wait to dig in and see what’s going on in Port Charles,” he said in the video. “Excited to see Genie Francis and many others. I just wanted to thank all the fans over the years — your persistence and love must have played a part in all of this. Thanks also to Frank Valentini and everyone at ABC for welcoming me.”

He added: “Sending lots of love and I guess we’ll see each other soon.”

During the interview with TV Insider in August, Jackson admitted that reprising his role as Lucky was a “very interesting” process.

“I felt like I had to start something completely different than when I was a teenager,” he told the newspaper. “For some reason this doesn’t seem so hard. It actually seemed pretty seamless.”
