Genshin Impact’s Ocean-Hued Clam Set Can Make Healers Viable Again

The spotlight of Genshin Impact is its characters, whether it be for lore or aesthetic reasons. People are always looking forward to new characters, so it’s understandable why it has such a large roster of them. All characters have different combat abilities but generally fall under the categories of Main DPS and Supports, with many characters in the middle. In the latter category, there are buffers and healers. Healers are desirable for newcomers because they do not initially have the resources to keep their characters alive. Food was unavailable due to the lack of Mora and ingredients. The Statues of the Seven can only recover so much as the players progress through the game.

However, just like many players’ disappointment with Genshin Impact‘s endgame content, healing characters became less and less viable as the game goes on. They were replaced by characters that provided shields and extra benefits, such as de-buffing the enemy and buffing party members. miHoYo has tried to balance this by adding a new status effect called “Corrosion,” which ticks away the characters’ HP. Characters can fall in battle from this, and shields do not help here. There is no way to remove Corrosion, except to wait for it to pass. In order to keep characters healthy without food, healers were once again necessary.

The Ocean-Hued Clam Artifact set was just introduced to Genshin Impact in Version 2.3. This set provides enhanced healing and also allows healers to make damage based on how much they have healed, regardless of however their heals scales. Most healers do so with their ATK or HP stats, so enhanced healing and free damage seem amazing. This could mean a massive amount of about 30 thousand damage every 3 seconds when utilized to its full potential.

Genshin Impact: Ocean-Hued Clam Artifacts Are Perfect For Healing Characters

The Ocean-Hued Clam Artifact set works very well on certain characters such as Sangonomiya Kokomi and Barbara. Not many fans pulled for Kokomi because of her role as a healer, but miHoYo has updated the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact to make her more sellable where Corrosion was first introduced. There is no doubt about her healing abilities, but many players were upset about her passive talent called “Flawless Strategy.” In return for more healing, she has a 100% decrease in Crit Rate. Equipping her with the Ocean-Hued Clam set will allow her to heal even more and still deal damage, regardless of Crit Rate. Aesthetically, it’s no wonder the set shares the exact same color scheme as her. Like Kokomi, Barbara doesn’t offer much outside of healing. An Ocean-Hued Clam equipped Barbara can fully heal all party members with her Elemental Burst and deal tons of damage along the way.

Conversely, this set is not as versatile as it seems for all healers. Most healers can only heal during their Elemental Burst, so this set would be wasted on them, as people would rather focus on their other abilities. Bennett in Genshin Impact is a quick healer but is better used for his amazing attack buffs. Jean, who is a strong healer, would be better equipped with a different artifact set because of her crowd control abilities and powerful attacks. Qiqi heals a ton, even without equipment, often to the point where people call her “excessive healing.” It would be ineffective to stack more healing on her because she would benefit from more offensive stats.

Just like all Artifact sets available in Genshin Impact so far, the Ocean-Hued Clam set is no different in its usefulness in certain characters and uselessness in others. A new set with a lot of potential gives people more options to build their characters. In contrast, this set still needs to be farmed so it is once again at the mercy of RNG, just like most things in the gacha game. Rifthound enemies can inflict Corrosion, but they’re the only ones so far, so if someone were to avoid them completely, they might not need healers again yet.
