Giada De Laurentiis Gives a Tour of Her Impressive Home Garden: ‘Brings Me So Much Joy’

Giada De Laurentiis’ garden was inspired by her daughter.

The Food Network star toured the garden she keeps at her California home. Gardening is something she has done since her daughter Jade, 15, was young, she said.

“One of the things I started doing when I had Jade, almost 16 years ago, was planting a garden,” De Laurentiis said in an Instagram Reel. “And I love my garden.”

Founder Giadzy gave a look at everything she grows — including Meyer lemons, tangerines, Mexican limes, broccoli and “lots, lots, lots of greens,” she said, while wearing a chic hat and cozy black coat. Impressive beds with products are located in front of the house she renovated during the pandemic.

“I have to say it brings me great joy to watch things grow and I started doing it because of Jade and I wanted her to learn where things come from and how they grow seasonally,” she said. “I’m certainly not a green thumb, but I am… I love watching things grow and they complement what I’m cooking.”

De Laurentiis even shared with PEOPLE in August a date night dinner she makes to use up everything she grows in her garden.

“Taking whatever you have left over in your fridge or growing in your garden, roasting it and putting it over pasta is the easiest way to put a meal together,” she told PEOPLE of her recipe for Roasted Vegetable Pasta. “Plus, you can make it ahead of time. It’s good warm, cold, or at room temperature.”

Jade is De Laurentiis’ only child, who she shares with ex-husband Todd Thompson. Jade and the chef’s longtime boyfriend Shane Farley recently prepared a dish for De Laurentiis as a Valentine’s Day surprise.

In a full YouTube video on her lifestyle brand Giadzy’s channel, Farley and Jade chronicled their time in the kitchen making cacio e pepe.

“Shane and Jade cook twice a year: on Valentine’s Day and on my birthday. Every other day…” De Laurentiis said and pointed to herself.
