Lifestyle Blogger Laura Merritt Walker Announces Son Callahan, 3, Died in a ‘Tragic Accident’: ‘Brokenhearted’

Laura Merritt Walker and her family are mourning this terrible loss.

The lifestyle blogger — one half of Merritt & Style — and husband David Walker announced the death of their youngest son, 3-year-old Callahan, on Instagram Monday.

The couple posted a photo of the two of them with Callahan from a family photo shoot, followed by a photo of them both holding his hand in his hospital bed and a video of Callahan reading a book before bed. In the caption, the two say they are “heartbroken” over the loss of their young child.

“We are absolutely heartbroken to say we lost our precious Callahan in a tragic accident last week,” begins the caption on the joint post.

“He was such a blessing and brought so much joy to our entire family. Cal-Bear was absolutely adored by his older brothers and loved beyond measure. As parents, we are completely devastated by the loss of our boy.”

They concluded: “We take comfort in knowing that Jesus is holding him. We would be honored to hear your prayers for peace and strength in our family during this impossible time.”

A sergeant with the Frisco, Texas Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE that FPD officers responded to a drowning call last week. Further details about the incident that led to Callahan’s death remain unknown.

“I will pray for you and your family, this absolutely breaks my heart because I know the pain and I am so sorry 💔”, commented Brittani Boren Leach, another influencer who unfortunately experienced the loss of a child.

Bachelor Nation’s Raven Gates also commented, writing, “I am so sorry, there are absolutely no words. I pray that the Lord gives you peace and comfort beyond all understanding.”

In the days after sharing the tragic news, David posted recent photos of Callahan on his Instagram Story, but did not comment further. The couple are also parents to sons Chamberlain, 7½, and Beckham, 10.

Laura runs a lifestyle blog with sister Cristie Merritt Taylor, who shares daughters Mia, 12 months, and Merritt, 3½, with husband Mark Taylor. The family has not yet commented on the death of their nephew.
