Glen Powell Jokes Sydney Sweeney Is the ‘Only’ Person Who’s Seen All of His Body After Anyone Scene (Exclusive)

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell met intimately on the set of the romantic comedy Anyone but you.

In the new issue of PEOPLE, Euphoria Emmy Nominated, 26, and Top Gun: Maverick actor, 35, discusses Powell’s hilarious nude scene in the film.

Sweeney plays Bea, a law student at Boston University who meets the charming financier brother Ben (Powell). After their first (and only) date goes south, they later both head to the same destination wedding in Australia.

To prevent their well-meaning loved ones (including Bea’s parents, played by Dermot Mulroney and Rachel Griffiths) from interfering in their personal lives, Ben and Bea decide to pretend to be a couple. Their appearance leads to several awkward moments, including one that occurs on a group hike.

After Bea discovers the spider on Ben, he quickly removes all his clothes and bends over, asking Bea to inspect his body to make sure there aren’t any other arachnids hiding anywhere.

Asked about the shoot at the time, Sweeney quips, “I think I saw . . .”

“You’re the only person they’ve seen!” Powell picks up.

After that day on set, “we’re really good friends,” Sweeney tells Powell, who jokes that they now have “a different kind of handshake.”

Powell says he remembers what he was thinking as the scene unfolded. “That was the moment I thought this could be the end of my career, right here, right now on this cliff,” he jokes.

However, the actor says that in those moments with Sweeney, he felt completely relaxed.

“The key to a good partner on that journey is someone who’s not afraid to look stupid, who’s in it with you, not protective. Sydney is just vulnerable. She just throws her heart into the film and throws herself into the deep end, and she’s the first person to be stupid in front of everyone,” he says.

A healthy dose of self-tanner helped him feel comfortable stripping off, too, he adds.
