Sofia Richie Grainge recalls some “surreal” memories from her wedding day with her dad Lionel Richie.
We’re talking to Net-a-Porter for this month’s digital cover, the 25-year-old model opened up about how much it meant to her to have her father, 74, by her side to walk her down the aisle.
“We were giggling, crying, it was so surreal,” she said, adding that it took the couple seven minutes to walk down the aisle.
“We have this little look that we give each other… [so] we just smiled at each other. We were like two giddy little kids following a rabbi telling us what to do,” she continued.

Vogue covered the wedding and fitting of Sofia’s dress. Then she told the publication everything about the special walk with her famous father.
“I was watching one by one the bridesmaids and the best man walk down the aisle, and we were getting closer to the front, and I couldn’t believe it was happening,” the fashion designer recalled, adding that the “Hello” star told her, “‘You you’re the love of my life, and I’m so happy for you.’ ”
“It was very emotional and I feel so lucky to have my parents,” Sofia said Vogue. “I am very grateful.”
Dad Lionel later told Additional tthat his daughter kept saying “I love you, dad, I love you, dad, I love you, dad” as she walked down the aisle. “I go… ‘You’re killing me. You’re killing me.’ But that’s what dad wants to hear, and I love Baby Girl so much, and the family was there to support her,” he added.

Sofia married music director Elliot Grainge on April 22 at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Rock in Antibes, France in front of 180 guests including Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden, Nicole Richie’s sister and her husband Joel Madden, and Paris Hilton and her husband Carter Reum.
Her spring wedding (and three Chanel wedding dresses) became a hit on social media, and the Los Angeles native previously spoke with City and country about how her style choices have come to life with her own TikTok, adding that she “went to a wedding with no motive” to grow her following.

“Chanel has always been my favorite designer. So someone said, ‘Why don’t you do Chanel?’ And I said, ‘Oh, I wish it was that easy.’ And then we said, ‘Well, why don’t we ask?’ ” she explained City and country. “We reached out, and they were kind and open enough to make one dress, a wedding dress.”
“Then it kind of turned into, ‘Okay, how am I ever going to find another designer for my rehearsal dinner who can balance Chanel?’ ” she continued. “So I went back to them, and I said, ‘Feel free to say no… but would you mind doing something else?’ They were so sweet, they made a few more pieces.”
