Glen Powell’s Dating History: From Nina Dobrev to Gigi Paris

Glen Powell has had some memorable on-screen romances, but in real life he keeps his relationships pretty private.

An actor who gained mass popularity with roles in romantic comedies such as Set it up and Anyone but youhe has only been linked to a handful of women over the years.

His last relationship was with model Gigi Paris, whom he dated for more than three years before they broke up in April 2023 in the middle of filming his latest movie Anyone but you.

During a December 2023 interview with Bustle, Powell was candid about his love life while talking about being single in the spotlight.

“I talked to some people in my life and they said, ‘Glen, you’re single. I know you’re trying to do all the right things in all the right ways, but you just have to accept that your failures are going to be a little more public, a little more painful than maybe most people, maybe a little more embarrassing, but that’s okay. But when you’re going to fall, and inevitably you’re going to fall in love, it’s going to work,’ he told the publication.

One of Powell’s first relationships in the spotlight was with actress Nina Dobrev. The duo first sparked dating rumors in January 2017 after ringing in the New Year with friends in Texas. That same month, Powell was seen at the premiere of Dobrev’s film in Los Angeles xXx: The Return of Xander Cageand they attended the Golden Globes after party together.

He was also at her place La la country-themed birthday party that month, where they dressed up as Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling and recreated a signature pose from the Oscar-winning film.

PEOPLE later confirmed that the two were dating after photo booth pictures surfaced of them from Julianne Hough and hockey player Brooks Laich’s wedding in Idaho that July.

However, that November, a source told PEOPLE that the two had been separated for a while as Dobrev dealt with her busy filming schedule.

In August 2022, they reunited during the Omega Masters when Dobrev posed for a photo with Powell, her boyfriend Shaun White and vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley. After splitting with Dobrev in 2017, Powell was linked to Australian TV presenter Renee Bargh. The couple sparked dating rumors in November 2018 Us Weekly they reported that they had been in a relationship for six months.

That same month, Bargh and Powell were photographed together at the actor’s ’80s-themed 30th birthday bash, which was attended by his ex Dobrev, John Stamos, Rachel Bilson and Chord Overstreet, among others.

The Top Gun: Maverick The star was first linked with model Gigi Paris in early 2020 when they were spotted on a romantic vacation in Mexico. The couple made their relationship official on Instagram a year later.

In addition to sharing a number of flirtatious conversations on social media, they have also appeared on several red carpets together, including the 2023 Golden Globes and the global premiere of the film Top Gun: Maverickwhere Powell also had the support of his parents.

In August 2022, Powell spoke to PEOPLE about supporting Paris while reflecting on his shirtless beach scenes from the film on all the viral TikToks. “My girl [Gigi Paris was] the first to send me all the thirst trap TikToks that came from him, which is very flattering,” he said.

He added that her support at the premiere was a super special moment. “My family and my girlfriend know how much this movie means to me and how much the cast means to me,” he said. “Especially after we didn’t know if we were going to have a premiere or release it in theaters, to have that celebration together, especially with my family who sacrificed so much to make this dream come true, [was] incredible.”

In April 2023, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Powell and Paris were no longer together. “Gigi and Glen have broken up a few times,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “Since then they have been on the rocks Top Gun came out. Gigi was never satisfied with remote filming, and when she came to Australia [where Powell was filming Anyone But You] they both decided to break up forever.”

The split came around the same time Powell sparked romance rumors with co-star Sydney Sweeney (who is engaged to Jonathan Davin). Both actresses denied any off-screen romance, which Powell later said Men’s health the publicity surrounding them “felt disorienting and unfair”.

He further expanded the speculation surrounding his relationship with Sweeney in an interview with Business Insider, admitting that they played flirtatious exchanges to promote their film.

“I’ll mostly give Sydney all the credit for this,” Powell told the December 2023 issue. “I don’t have the mental capacity to pull something like this off, but she’s very smart. She’s very smart. I’ve had such a wonderful journey with her on this thing.”

“The only reason it was harder for me to deal with those things was because I was going through a very real breakup in the middle of a promotional tour,” he continued, referring to his breakup with Paris. “I was with someone who I really loved and cared about and I was trying to somehow find meaning in a lot of things. It was a lot easier for Sydney to go for something like that because she’s in a very committed and wonderful relationship and she’s very happy. Well it was a little harder for me.”
