Michael Phelps and Pregnant Wife Nicole Celebrate Christmas with Their Three Boys: ‘Winter Wonderland Fun’

Michael Phelps’ family enjoyed their last Christmas as a family of five.

The Olympic swimmer, 38, spent a wonderful vacation with his wife Nicole Johnson β€” who is expecting the couple’s fourth child – and sons Maverick, 3, Beckett, 5, and Boomer, 7.

The family posed together with Santa, and Johnson’s father joined them in the beautiful family photo. There were also videos of the boys playing and baking together.

“Fun in a winter wonderland πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΌ,” Johnson captioned the snaps.

The parents of the three boys announced on Instagram that their family is growing again in an anniversary post they shared earlier this month.

The couple – who have been married since 2016 – posed for a photo at a recent NFL game where Johnson showed off her baby bump.

The mom-of-four shared a post on Instagram to celebrate the couple’s new arrival, as well as her seventh anniversary with the Olympic swimming champion.

“For those wondering… yes! We’re expecting our 4th Phelps in 2024 πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™,” Johnson wrote alongside a carousel of pictures.

The family of five likes to spend quality time together, from watching movies to going to football matches. Phelps also credits his family for helping him deal with depression, as their routines and rituals helped lessen the effects, he told PEOPLE in 2021. One such routine is their daily family dinners at 5 p.m.

β€œAs a kid, I always wanted to have dinner with my family, but with my parents separated, it didn’t happen very often,” Phelps told PEOPLE. “I love how we have dinner together at the same time every night.”

As Phelps still struggles with mental illness at times, he is determined to help his sons learn how to deal with negative feelings.

“They talk about their emotions,” said the retired professional swimmer. “That gives me a lot of hope. I just want them to be as prepared as possible.”

“We don’t hide from emotions. We teach them that mom or dad is having a moment and we need to give them space or ask them if they want a hug,” Johnson explained. “And it taught them to have permission for their own and feelings to be heard.”

And when it’s hug time, Phelps said the kids “just make me melt.”

“That immediately makes me fall to the ground. I absolutely love being around them,” the future father of four added about his children.
