He was born on Sunday 15 December 1940 in Gujranwala, Punjab, British India (now part of Pakistan) (age 71 at the time of death).

Goga was born into a wealthy family, but after the partition of India in 1947, they moved to India and all their property remained in Pakistan. During Partition, his father disappeared. Gorga’s mother once believed that one day she would meet her husband, and years later they finally met in a coffee shop. His father started working as a textile engineer in India. Gorga Kapoor has an elder brother and a younger sister. He is married to Shanta Kapoor and has three daughters: Shailly Kapoor Anand, Sonu Kapoor and Payal Gorga. Payal Goga Kapoor (theater artist).
Profession
He began his career performing in British theater. He was a talented actor and soon he got a small role in the Bollywood film Jwala (1971).
He first played a negative role in the film “Ek Kunwari Ek Kunwara” (1973), where his performance was highly appreciated. After this movie, he was typecast as a villain and mostly played negative roles in movies.
Some of his hit movies are Toofan (1989), Agneepath (1990) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994).
Veteran actor ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ has appeared in almost all of Gorga Kapoor’s films. They were one of the popular hero-villain Jodis at the time.
In 1988, he played the role of “Kansa” in the epic TV series “Mahabharata”.
Later, he appeared in many popular Bollywood movies and TV series. He is known for his brilliant dialogues.
He was last seen in the Bollywood film Darwaza Bandh Rakho (2006).
