A week after she revealed she had decided to skip her daughter’s wedding to find love there The The Golden BachelorSandra Mason didn’t get a rose from Gerry Turner.
Despite the disappointing turn of events, the 75-year-old retired executive assistant tells PEOPLE she doesn’t regret her decision and talks about the “motivation” behind missing the big day.
“My brother-in-law said, ‘Mom, our ceremony is eight minutes long. Our marriage lasts a lifetime.’ He said: ‘You go. To go.’ And of course, my daughter said, ‘Mom, I have my guy. You go get yours,’ says the Georgia native. “So they basically pushed me out and said, ‘You have to do it.’ ”
She describes her daughter and new son-in-law as “great people,” adding of their unwavering support, “I’m blessed.”

Sandra admits she was “a bit sad” not to receive a rose before hometowns because she was “hoping” for the possibility of finding love with Turner, 72. Despite her journey coming to an end, she calls the first of her beloved ABC series “a great experience.”
She says her two daughters were her “cheers” during the five-week trip and had a similar reaction to her elimination.
“They were hoping for a better outcome, [a] different outcome,” she shares, adding that they were “happy with it [I] dared to even do this and excited.”
Sandra adds that this experience has given her greater hope that she will find love in the future, and says: “I am more motivated.” I know it’s possible. No, it’s not only possible – it’s likely. It will happen. And just be open to it. Just hug him. if you don’t buy a lottery ticket, you can’t win. Same kind of concept.”

During the Oct. 19 episode, Sandra revealed to Turner the sacrifice she made to be on the show with him — prompting a surprise The The Golden Bachelor as well as the spectators.
She said it was “something my daughter and I talked about early on,” to which he replied, “I feel very flattered, but it’s a big event.”
The two then FaceTimed Sandra’s daughter, which she later said was “so sweet” during the confessional.
“He’s always full of sweet surprises and is so thoughtful. This man is something different.”
