Good Bones Star Karen E. Laine Quietly Debuted Short Haircut Ahead of HGTV Spinoff About 'New Beginnings'

Karen E. Laine embraces her new beginning with a fresh look.

The Good bones star quietly debuted the new hairstyle in a Reels Instagram post on July 24, showing herself in her greenhouse tending to her monstera plants. Although the clip was about a trick she learned to raise her monsters (which involves tomato cages), her new pixie haircut drew the ire of followers in the comments.

Fans were quick to praise her new look. One commented, “Tomato schomato!!! That haircut! How do you like it? It looks great,” to which the HGTV star gave some honest feedback, replying, “I’m not sure I like it this short.”

Laine appeared to style her pixie with some gel as she took fans backstage at the Indiana State Fair, celebrating her “favorite time of year.”

While Laine, a natural reader, has let her gray hair take center stage over the past few years, the home decor star has remained committed to longer lengths and bangs.

The pixie cuts mark a possible symbolic moment for Laine, who is set to star in a new one Good bones spin-off with daughter Mina Starsiak Hawk, despite their feud in the original series.

The mother-daughter duo will star in a special limited season of the popular HGTV series, which ended its eight-season run in 2023.

Mina Starsiak Hawk says she’s ‘not in a good place’ with her mom and ‘Good Bones’ co-star Karen E. Laine

Starsiak Hawk revealed in August 2023 that behind-the-scenes tensions between her and her family were growing, saying that she wasn’t “in a good place” with either her mom or brother Tad Starsiak during the show’s final season Good bones.

“We all put on our big baby pants and make ourselves nice … and then we go back to our corners of the universe and talk … about each other,” she said on her podcast at the time, describing the surface of her relationship with her family during vacations or birthdays.
