Good Morning Britain viewers demand Richard Madeley is ‘taken off air’ after ‘disgusting’ question leaves guest in shock

RICHARD Madeley left Britain’s first Palestinian MP speechless in shock during an interview on Good Morning Britain.

Viewers called for the host to be “off the air” for questioning whether she knew about the terror attack on Israel last week BEFORE it happened.

Richard asked Layla Moran, Lib Dem MP for Oxford West & Abingdon: “With your family connections in Gaza, did you have any indication of what was going to happen ten days ago, two weeks ago?

“Was there word on the street?”

Not this, not this,” replied the stunned MP.

“Everybody, everybody was surprised first of all by the timing and the sophistication and the way it happened.

“What I will say is that I have been warning, and others in the Parliament for years, that if we don’t find a way… People say ‘go back to the negotiating table.’ The fact is that there was no table, let alone a return to the negotiating table, for at least ten years.

“This is a cycle of violence. Now I worry that this is radicalizing another generation on all sides.

“We have to stop this hatred. We have to bring people together and find a way out.

“Peace is harder than war. It’s harder.”

Hundreds were killed and dozens taken hostage when Hamas gunmen swept across the border on paragliders and motorcycles on October 7.

Hamas terrorists armed with guns, grenades and knives killed entire families in their beds.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hamas beheaded soldiers, raped women, shot children in the head and burned people alive during its horrific attacks on Israel.

About 40 babies and children were killed – some with their heads cut off – in one town.

Richard’s question sparked an outcry from some offended viewers online.

One said: “Absolutely disgusting from #GMB and Richard Madeley. He should apologize immediately and be pulled from the programme. Solidarity with Layla Moran.

“It’s a tough time to be an Arab, even tougher to be a Palestinian with the stereotypes spreading.”

Another added: “Such an appalling, indefensible question from Richard Madeley. How on earth would Layla Moran know what Hamas is up to?

“The Israeli intelligence services claim that they didn’t even know!

“Good morning Britain, please fire Richard Madeley.”

Someone else replied: “I’ve seen Richard Madeley ask some insensitive questions, but this?”

Another added: “Richard Madeley sometimes asks questions.

“How could she know what a terrorist would do? Stupid question.”

“Richard Madeley sometimes asks the dumbest questions,” said someone else.

Another added: “Ugh! I really have no tolerance for Richard ‘collateral damage’ Madeley this morning. Whenever there are serious events in the news, Madeley should be kept far, far away from the GMB studios.”

Layla became the first British-Palestinian MP when she was elected in 2017, and her family was barricaded in a church in Gaza City.

The politician says her family has “no food or water” and “nowhere to go”.

She added: “I don’t believe it is right that my family should be held responsible for what Hamas has done.”

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a statement to the House of Commons on the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Standing up in the Lower House, the representative said about her family: “Their house was bombed by the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces). They went to seek refuge in the church because we are Palestinian Christians, and I’m afraid they are still there because they are too old to go, and they tell me they have nowhere to go.

“It is because of this, not in spite of it, that I attended the vigil in Oxford organized by the Jewish community, because between our communities we now share deep emotions – loss and grief.”
