Gorgeous pictures. The Nicobar Pigeon is enchanting with its vivid colors!

These birds have shiny plumage that makes them look like miniature rainbows! We all know that the Dodo is extinct, but there is still a chance to see the Nicobar Pigeon, the closest living relative of the famous Dodo!

The Nicobar pigeon has a thin pointed beak, shiny feathers and a compact frame, while the Dodo has a bow-shaped bill, light gray feathers and a muscular frame.

Although these adorable pigeons are related to the extinct flightless bird of Mauritius, the two birds seem to have nothing in common.

The lack of natural predators on the small islands explains their brilliant iridescent fur. Because no camouflage is needed to protect against predators.

The Nicobar pigeon stands out from other pigeons thanks to its bright, colorful plumage. With its dark gray body, iridescent blue upper body and coppery bronze color, the Nicobar pigeon is considered one of the most beautiful pigeons.

Their shiny coat is complemented by a glittering collar and contrasting white tail. These adorable birds can be found on the small Indian island of Nicobar. They are also named after the island.

Unfortunately, the Nicobar pigeon, like the Dodo, is on the verge of extinction. This majestic land-dwelling bird is listed as ‘vulnerable’ due to hunting, habitat loss and the introduction of exotic predators such as cats and rats to their breeding islands.

Lord, You must have created many beautiful and unusual birds. Surely no one wants this wonderful pigeon to suffer the same fate as its cousin the dodo! Looks like God painted him by drawing a rainbow on his body.
