Tasha Cobbs Leonard is a Grammy-winning singer, mother and, now, soon-to-be-published author. In an exclusive reveal to PEOPLE, the “Break Every Chain” singer, 42, shares that she has a new book : Do it anyway: don’t give up before it gets good arriving this spring from WaterBrook. The book will also feature a foreword by author and media personality Sarah Jakes Roberts. “I feel so many emotions!” Cobbs Leonard tells PEOPLE. “Excitement, anxiety, hope and overwhelming gratitude for the opportunity to share my story.”

Do it anyway will show the world a new side of Cobbs Leonard, who has been appointed BoardBest Gospel Artist of the Decade 2020 In the book, she writes about how her faith guided her through life, from her early days as an aspiring singer to personal experiences that will resonate with many readers, such as infertility, depression and weight loss. Cobbs Leonard, who is also a pastor, also describes in the book how her faith helped her through her adoption experience. Cobbs Leonard and her husband, Kenneth Leonard, adopted their son Asher in 2022, and Cobbs Leonard says the now-toddler is keeping her on her toes.

“I LOVE BEING A MOM!” says Cobbs Leonard, who also has three children from Kenneth’s previous marriage. “Now I’m a mother of a small child and it’s non-stop! Little children move the fastest in the world!”

Cobbs Leonard also noted that Asher is hitting some important milestones, such as learning the alphabet and colors. He even has some musical preferences of his own.
“Asher is an up and coming musician, focusing on drums and keyboards for now!” says Cobbs Leonard. “He’s super athletic, ultra-curious, and the cutest boy ever!”

Motherhood, explains Cobbs Leonard, does not come without its challenges, especially as she tries to balance parenting with her work. “As a touring artist, it’s always challenging to leave your kids alone for days at a time. I am encouraged knowing that just as God equipped me to travel the world and inspire others,” she says, “God has given my children everything they need to fulfill the demands of our family purpose.”
