Government of Odisha offers free Wi-Fi in public universities
Odisha College Updates: The Government of Odisha has taken a significant step towards improving the educational experience for students. The government has decided to provide free Wi-Fi for state universities. This initiative aims to provide students with seamless and unlimited access to online educational resources, including study materials and e-books. By facilitating connectivity, the government aims to empower students with the tools they need to excel in their academic endeavors and further foster a culture of digital learning within the state’s educational landscape.
Installation of Wi-Fi devices
Higher Education Department Special Secretary Ramakanta Nayak has asked registrars of all state universities to give detailed estimates for setting up Wi-Fi devices in campuses. He stated, “Government of Odisha intends to provide free Wi-Fi for students in university campuses as most of the study materials are available online these days.”
Two universities provide free Wi-Fi
Although Utkal University and Rama Devi Women’s University already offer Wi-Fi services in their campuses, this recent decision by the Odisha government will extend the facility to students of other universities across the state. Providing free Wi-Fi along with allotment of 1GB data for students in all colleges and universities was a commitment taken by the ruling party BJD in its election manifesto leading to the 2019 assembly and general elections.
Odisha NMMS Scholarship Exam 2023 5th November
State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will conduct Means Cum Merit National Scholarship Exam on 5th November 2023. Students must download the hall ticket from the official website: scertodisha.nic.in by entering the login credentials. There are a total of 3314 scholarships that will be distributed in 30 districts. Also, there is district wise reservation for SC, ST SEBC and physically handicapped candidates.
