How did Grace Kelly die?

On September 13, 1982, Grace was returning to Monaco from her rural residence in Roc Agel when she suffered a slight cerebral hemorrhage. As a result, she lost control of her 1971 Rover P6 3500, veered off a narrow, steep road and tumbled 120 feet (37 m) down a mountain. Stéphanie, her teenage daughter Stéphanie, who was in the passenger seat, tried but failed to regain control of the car. With brain, chest and femur injuries, the princess was taken to a hospital in Monaco, later renamed the Princess Grace Hospital Center. The next evening at 10:55 PM Rainier decided to take her off life support.

Stéphanie missed her mother’s funeral due to a mild concussion and a fractured cervical spine. Princess Grace’s funeral was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception in Monaco-Ville on September 18, 1982. After a requiem mass, she was buried in the Grimaldi family vault. Over 400 people attended, including Cary Grant, Nancy Reagan, Danielle Mitterrand, Empress Farah of Iran and Diana, Princess of Wales. After his death in 2005, Rainier, who did not remarry, was buried next to her.

She was baptized and attended elementary school at Saint Bridget Parish in East Falls.
