gravity falls is a critically acclaimed animated show that audiences of all ages enjoy and features some great characters. However, some characters are not as beloved as others.
Love: Big Dipper
Dipper Pines is the protagonist of the story, he is a cute but clumsy teenager. Obsessed with a diary that chronicles the strange paranormal happenings in the town, he wants to discover the secret of Gravity Falls. He’s a relatable character who overthinks everything and wants to know the answers to all his questions about the town’s supernatural science.
Dislikes: Pacific Northwest
Pacifica Northwest is a spoiled wealthy character who relies on her wealth and status to get what she wants. While she does warm up to Dipper and Mabel throughout the series, she spends most of her time trying to defeat Mabel in various competitions. Pacifica got what she wanted, but she resented Mabel for not being afraid of her and not letting her have her way.
Lover: Mabel Pines
Mabel Pines (voiced by Kristen Schaal) has an outgoing and eccentric personality that makes her a unique character. She’s unstoppable when she sets her mind to it, and she’s always upbeat, and it’s hard not to love her.
Mabel cares about and loves everyone, and she’s quick to tell them exactly how she feels, which is always cute. Mabel is a loyal and supportive sister who is always there for Dipper when he needs her.
Dislikes: Lil Gideon
Lil Gideon is a smoother trickster than Grank Stan, but he doesn’t have Stan’s gruffly lovable charm. Gideon tries to convince the people of Gravity Falls that he has psychic powers, but he gets supernatural help from Ford’s diary. He was frustrated when Mabel didn’t want to date him and vowed revenge on her and Dipper, constantly trying to steal the Mystery Shack from Stan.
Lover: Grunkle Stan
Grenkel Stan is a gruff but lovable character who gets plenty of screen time so viewers can get to know his unique personality. He does embody a strangely lovable con man persona that people might not want to encounter in real life, but he’s a very interesting character on screen. Despite Stan’s abrasive attitude, it’s clear that he cares deeply about Dipper, Mabel, Soos, and his brother Ford, and will do anything to protect them.
Dislikes: Bill Cipher
Bill Cypher is a character that most fans love to hate because he’s funny and tends to be at the center, or at least involved in most of the show’s mysteries and ciphers, but he’s also the show’s most evil character . He is the main villain of the entire series and brings pain to every beloved character whenever he appears. When he was finally freed and spread chaos in Gravity Falls, he possessed Dipper, manipulated Mabel, and tortured the entire town.
Lover: Su Su
Seuss is one of the most lovable and hilarious characters in the series, as he is completely innocent, blissfully unaware of their dangerous supernatural surroundings. He considered Grenkel Stan to be a father figure and worked at the Mystery Shack almost his entire life. He loves Dipper and Mabel and will do anything to protect them and the Mystery Shack.
Dislikes: Robbie Valentino
Robbie Valentino (voiced by TJ Miller) is a typical teenager who loves Wendy helplessly and likes to complain about everything. He’s usually at odds with Dipper, who also has a crush on Wendy, but regardless, she thinks she’ll be happier without Robbie, and he’s probably right.
Robbie isn’t a terrible character, but he is one of the weaker characters on the show and doesn’t have much of a story or background other than being obsessed with Wendy and hating his perfect parents.
Love: Wendy Corduroy
Wendy (voiced by Linda Cardellini) is a strong, capable, independent and effortlessly cool girl. She strikes a good balance between being aloof and caring about her friends, so she can be carefree yet supportive when her friends need her. Dipper had a crush on her for most of the show, and while the two remained friends, it’s understandable why he and all the fans loved her so much.
Dislikes: Ford Pines
“Hate” is too strong a word for Ford Pines (voiced by J.K. Simmons), but his introduction to the show brings a new dimension to the otherwise happy trio of Dipper, Mabel, and Stan. A lot of questions came. Ford had an interesting introduction as Dipper and Mabel didn’t even know he existed and when he was brought back to his dimension he was very cold and upset with Stan that he would even try to save him. He has a gruff personality, like his lovable brother, but the audience has been familiar with him for a shorter period of time.
