In the Walker: Independence pilot for The CW, Matt Barr and Greg Hovanessian (Another Life) will both play series regulars.
The new, one-hour project is an origin narrative for Walker that takes place in the late 1800s and follows Abby Walker, a wealthy Bostonian who witnesses the murder of her husband while they are travelling to the West. Abby encounters Hoyt Rawlins (Barr), a charming outlaw looking for a reason for living, while on her quest for vengeance.
On their journey, Abby and Hoyt stop in Independence, Texas, where they meet a variety of unique locals who are escaping their own painful pasts and pursuing their goals. In a community where nothing is as it seems, the newly discovered family will fight to adapt to the changing environment around them while also acting as change agents for others.
In Independence, Hovanessian will portray Tom Davidson, the new Sheriff. Tom has a good-looking face for someone who you don’t know is nasty. And Abby has good cause to think that Tom is a truly evil man. Tom, who quickly assumed the duties of Abby’s late husband Liam, is now a popular figure in the community.
A tale that Seamus Fahey and Anna Fricke co-wrote served as the basis for the pilot script. The director is Larry Teng. Along with Rideback’s Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore, Fahey, Teng, and Jared Padalecki are executive producing the film under their Pursued by a Bear label alongside Fricke and Laura Terry.
