As for his career, Gregg Berhalter left UNC in 1994 to go to Zwolle. After Sparta Rotterdam he played for SC Cambuur Leeuwarden. He played for Crystal Palace with Jovan Kirovski. In Crystal Palace, he scored against Bradford City.
In 2002, he joined Bundesliga side Energie Cottbus. 111 league appearances. He led them to success in the Bundesliga. 2006: Joined 2nd Bundesliga side TSV 1860 Munich. Furthermore, he played 73 league games for Die Löwen over 2.5 years.
He returned to the US in April 2009 after 15 years in Europe. He also signed for MLS. On April 3, 2009, he joined Galaxy. In his first season with the Galaxy, they scored 61 fewer goals. He coached Rookie of the Year Omar Gonzalez.
