Grey’s Anatomy Cast Heads Back to Work! Stars Return to Studio for Table Read of Season 20 Premiere

Paging the Grey’s Anatomy doctors at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital!

The stars of Shonda Rhimes’ hit medical drama shared highlights Wednesday when they returned to the ABC studio to read the season 20 premiere after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended.

Earlier in the day, Camilla Luddington, who plays OB/GYN Jo Wilson, shared a clip of her going into the studio as she zoomed in on a sign with the show’s logo and the words “Table Read” in all caps with a path arrow.

OG star James Pickens Jr., better known as former chief of surgery Richard Webber, has reposted an Instagram Story on his account.

Addressing the raindrops on her car window, Luddington, 39, said in the next slide: “I’m on my way to the table for the new season and I don’t know if you can see, but it’s raining in Los Angeles, which is really crazy.”

“I feel like the weather gods are on our side again for Seattle,” she joked, alluding to the show’s location.

The British actress also took a picture of her business card with her character’s alias — a sign that several cast members also posted on their Instagram stories to mark the start of production.

Rule alum Adelaide Kane (who plays surgical intern Jules Millin) posted a photo of her name card behind a lunch plate.

Heading GSMH’s cardiothoracic department as Winston Ndugu, Anthony Hill included the script of the first episode of season 20 in his post along with his business card and a clock emoticon at the bottom.

Meanwhile, Midori Francis shared a cute photo with some interns and residents hanging out together.

Francis (Mika Yusada), Jake Borelli (Levi Schmidtt), Jaicy Elliot (Taryn Helm), Alexis Floyd (Simone Griffith), Niko Terho (Luca Adams), Harry Shum Jr. (Benson Kwan) and Hill were all smiles as they sat around the table to enjoy each other’s company over coffee.

Also set to return for the upcoming installment of Grey’s is Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman and Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd.

The season 20 premiere celebration comes after the end of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike on November 9.

The union reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) after actors went on strike all summer for better pay and benefits plans amid complications arising from the rise of the streaming service model, which has contributed to falling wages and residuals. They also sought protection from the impact of artificial intelligence on their work.

Season 20 release date Grey’s Anatomy ABC has not yet announced. In May, ABC shared that the renewal time for their scripted series “will be announced at a later date,” and the network will restructure the primetime lineup in the fall of 2023 due to the writers’ strike.
