Gulab Devi is an Indian teacher, politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She is famous for being a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) five times. On March 14, 2023, she made headlines for her altercation with a journalist named Sanjay Rana.

Gulab Devi aka Gulabo Devi was born on Wednesday, June 1, 1955, in Chandaussi, Uttar Pradesh, India (67 years old as of 2022). Her zodiac sign is Gemini. After completing her education at BMG Inter College, Chandaursi, Uttar Pradesh, she attended Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where she completed her studies. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from Agra University (now Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University) in 1974. She received her MFA from SM College, Chandausi in 1976. Since Gulab Devi was born in a poor family, after graduating in 1976, she started working as a political science teacher at Bhartiya M Women’s International College and later became the principal of the college.

While working as a teacher at Bhartiya M Girls Inter College, Gulab Devi joined the RSS and started serving as a pracharak in Uttar Pradesh. She continued working in the RSS until 1991, when she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Gulab Devi served as the Chandausi MP from 1989 to 1990. Gulab Devi contested the 1991 Vidhan Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh on a BJP ticket, contesting from the Scheduled Caste reserved Chandausi constituency. She won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Yad Ram by 6,256 votes. In 1996, she contested the UP Vidhan Sabha elections from Chandao West constituency. In the election, she defeated BSP candidate Karan Singh by 33,259 votes. In 1997, she was appointed to the Budget Committee. From 1997 to 2002, Gulab Devi served as Minister of Women Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition. In 2002, she received a ticket from the BJP to contest the UP Vidhan Sabha polls from Chandaur West constituency and defeated Samajwadi Party candidate Satish Premi by a margin of 700 votes. Premi). In 2017, she won the UP Vidhan Sabha election from the BJP election in Chandaur West constituency against Indian National Congress candidate Km Vimlesh Kumari. Gulab defeated Vimlesh by a margin of 49,469 votes.
She took charge of the Ministry of State for Social Welfare, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in 2017. She is contesting the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Chandausi constituency with the support of the BJP. In the election, she was elected by a margin of 35,367 votes, defeating Samajwadi candidate Vimlesh Kumar.
When the BJP allotted her a ticket to contest the 2022 assembly elections, around 200 BJP workers and appointees resigned due to dissatisfaction with the party’s decision. A BJP appointee said in an interview that the workers resigned because they wanted the candidate of their choice to get a ticket to contest the elections in the Chandaur West constituency. Talking about this, he said,
Those who resigned were angry that Gulab Devi was given a party ticket for the assembly elections. They are asking for votes from others and we have also informed the party high command about this. Around 200 stall adhyaksh, 15 department heads and a large number of party members have tendered their resignations. “
She was appointed Minister of Secondary Education (Independent Charge) in 2022.

In 2023, a journalist and YouTuber named Sanjay Rana was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for creating a ruckus during the interrogation of Gulab Devi at an event organized by the Uttar Pradesh government. At the event, Sanjay Rana irritated Gulab by asking a series of questions about the promises she had made while campaigning for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections, and she responded to reporters saying she knew he was there to interrupt Activity. she says,
I’ve recognized your eyes for a long time. Even as you stood there, I recognized your eyes… All these things are in your own place, you said, but the time has not come yet. But you forget that this Kundanpur village and Budh Nagar Khandwa are mine too. All of these things I said will work. “
Later, BJP district general secretary Yuva Morcha Shubham Raghav lodged a complaint against Sanjay for disturbing the event and Sanjay was arrested by the police. In a statement, Gulab Devi told the media that she knew nothing about Sanjay’s arrest but she was aware that he had physically assaulted a BJP worker at an event. The police later released Sanjay after he was granted bail.
