Death of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of Sikh For Justice (SFJ), is dead or alive. According to rumors, the founder of SFJ and a pro-Khalistan activist allegedly died in a traffic accident in the US.
However, Sukhi Chahal, founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of the American magazine The Khalsa Today, denied the reports of Pannu’s death. Čahal claimed that the head of the SFJ is “alive”.
“I would like to emphasize that the information about the alleged car accident in my neighborhood in California and the transfer of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun from SFJ is fabricated and false. Kindly request no one to share your false information,” Chahal tweeted.
On July 1, 2020, the Indian government used the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to officially designate Gurpatwant Singh Pannun as a terrorist. Pannun became famous for organizing the 2020 Khalistan referendum in several Western countries.
He actively campaigned against India and tried to recruit Sikh children from his home state of Punjab into his terrorist activities, showing a strong commitment to undermine India through his actions. The Sikh community demands Khalistan, one nation, and the SFJ is known to support it.
Reports indicate that Pannu is currently mentioned in 22 criminal cases, three of which involve sedition charges in India. Pannu, a resident of the United States, hails from the Punjabi village of Khankot, which is part of the Amritsar district. He is recognized as one of the founders of the SFJ group, founded in October 2007.
Recently, Amritpal Singh, a Khalistan separatist, also lost his main leader, Avtar Singh Khanda. But the exact cause of this death is still unknown. According to other stories, he died of food poisoning. His medical records indicated that he may have had food poisoning.
Outrage in India was sparked by a Khalistan billboard claiming Indian High Commissioner in Ottawa Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General in Toronto Apoorva Srivastava were the “killers” of Khalistan Tiger Force leader , Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Nijjar, the leader of the pro-Khalistan organizations Khalistan Tiger Force and Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) Canada, was assassinated on June 18 in Surrey, Canada.
The posters were released a month after Khalistan supporters displayed a photo of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in bloodstained clothing and a banner reading “Revenge for the attack on Shri Darbar Sahib”, to mark the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star.
