Guy Junker’s career
Junker worked for Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 as a daily sports reporter and weekend sports anchor for WTAE. He returned to the station in 2006 after working there for six years between 1984 and 1990. Furthermore, he ended his career in the broadcasting sector at the end of April 2022 after more than four decades of service.
He held various positions over a quarter of a century at the station, including sports director and sports producer. Between stints at WTAE, he worked as a national anchor for SNN in Washington, DC. He also hosted pregame and postgame shows on the Steelers Radio Network for over ten years.
He also spent 13 years working for Fox Sports co-hosting the Pirates and Penguins pregame and postgame shows. He also hosted “Penn State Football History” for 23 years. He won eight Regional Emmy Awards for Outstanding Sports Series during his tenure as host. He received the 2001 Chris Schenkel Award from the NFL/NFF Coaches Academy.
In addition, he worked with many charitable organizations. He also chairs the annual celebrity golf event hosted by the Homestead Lions. As co-chair of the annual Violet Rippy 5k/walk for Pulmonary Fibrosis, she also served in another capacity.
