Gwen Stefani Says She 'Never Even Knew' Husband Blake Shelton 'Existed' Before She Met Him on The Voice

Before Gwen Stefani met husband Blake Shelton on Vote — she never heard of him!

Talking to The Guardian for an interview released Thursday, Nov. 14, the “Don’t Speak” singer, 55, was asked if she would be open to recording a country album with Shelton, 48, in the future. Although Stefani has only dipped her toes in country music so far – she would be open to it.

– I would love to – she said before revealing new details about their relationship.

“I never listened to country music, so even though Blake was super successful, I didn’t even know he existed before I met him,” Stefani explained.

Stefani — who met Shelton in 2014 while training Vote — then she added that she likes to “sing with him”.

“He’s very humble and doesn’t realize how good he is,” she said of the “God’s Country” singer, whom she married in 2021. “There’s something so attractive about that.”

On Friday, November 15, Stefani released her fourth studio album, Bouquet. On the album, she reveals the aftermath of her 2016 divorce from Bush rocker Gavin Rossdale, 59, and shares the joy she’s found in building a new life for Shelton and her three sons Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 10.

“I was engaged for the last four years of my life, and then I got married and started my life over,” Stefani recently told PEOPLE.

“Something I’ve wanted since I was a little girl is to get married and have the love I saw in my parents and have children. That dream was completely destroyed; it was broken and I had to figure out how to move forward and make a new dream come true,” she added. “And God putting Blake in my life was just that miracle.”
