Gwyneth Paltrow celebrates her friend Cameron Diaz’s birthday!
Diaz turned 51 on Wednesday, and one of her best friends made sure to celebrate her big day with a heartfelt post.
“Can I stop and say happy birthday to one of the best people I know and one of my best, closest, dearest friends @camerondiaz,” wrote Paltrow, 50, on her Instagram Story.
With the Story post, Shallow Hal the actress shared the same picture on her Instagram page. “Happy birthday @camerondiaz my ride or die 💙,” Paltrow added.
The birthday greeting included a photo of the ladies smiling for an outdoor selfie, almost matching with blue ribbons and navy t-shirts. One fan remarked that the two looked like siblings in the broadcast. Another wrote: “Wow, this is amazing! Sister in life.”
Diaz and Paltrow’s friendship dates back more than a decade. In an interview with S. in 2012 Harper’s Bazaar UKthe Charlie’s Angels alum told the publication that she and Paltrow became “very close” after the death of her father, Emilio Diaz, in 2008. “She reached out after my father died,” Diaz told E! News. “It was very sweet. We bonded over it.”
Paltrow’s father, Bruce Paltrow, died in 2002.

They didn’t just rely on each other in difficult times. They were also part of some of the biggest moments in each other’s lives. Paltrow, who is married to television writer and producer Brad Falchuk, turned to Diaz for support — and wedding planning — when it came time to say “I do” to her 2018 nuptials.
“Cameron was really excited about Gwyneth’s wedding,” a source previously told PEOPLE. “Gwyneth gave her updates and advice during planning.”
“Cameron organized a private wedding even though the media found out before that. Gwyneth wanted the same privacy,” the insider added.

Last year, Paltrow shared another selfie with Diaz expressing her adoration to wish her dear friend a happy birthday.
“Happy birthday @camerondiaz. Your wisdom, humor, loyalty, cooking skills, laughter and ice cubes in a rose guide me through life. I adore you with all my ❤️(And yes, we are wearing peppers in this picture),” Iron man talent captioned a 2017 photo of the two smiling together.
In a 2016 interview with Sirius XM’s Radio AndyDiaz revealed that she taught Paltrow how to use a hair dryer to style her hair.

“Honestly, I look at her [Paltrow] and I know what she does, and I know how well she takes care of herself and everyone around her,” said Diaz at the time. “She’s so loving and giving and generous to everyone around her, but … she said, ‘I’ve never blown my hair out, like, I don’t know how to do my own hair and makeup,’ and I said, ‘Girl, after all these years, you have to know how to do this, you know?’ ”

Diaz explained that she stepped in to help her longtime friend. “So I showed her how to do a quick blow dry on my hair and she said, ‘That’s it?’ I said, ‘That’s it.’ She says: ‘I can do it!’ I said, ‘Of course you can! It’s easy, because we have all these other jobs that we have to do and we leave it to other people, but it’s not really that hard to do it yourself’.”
When Bad teacher the actress turned 44 in 2020, Paltrow was present. Diaz gave up the typical restaurant dinner and decided to fix up her own kitchen.
Diaz, her husband Benji Madden, his brother Joel and wife Nicole Richie, Paltrow and Falchuk gathered at the New School of Cooking in Culver City, California for a special birthday feast.
