Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson are expanding their family!

Blanchard, 32, announced on Tuesday that the couple had adopted a puppy named Pixie.

In an Instagram video titled “New Puppy Mom,” Blanchard showed off the dog, 8-week-old puppy Malchi, in front of her more than 8 million followers.

“I want to introduce you to someone very special,” she began the video, holding up the tiny, black-and-white puppy to the camera. “She’s a darling and she’s already spoiled.”

After putting Pixie down so she could sleep, Blanchard revealed that she and Anderson had adopted her about three nights ago.

“We went to PetSmart, bought everything she could possibly need,” she recalled, before showing a picture of the pup sleeping on her new bed the first night in their home.

She then showed a photo of Pixie ending up “by the end of the night” – in bed with Blanchard, where she quickly took over “my side of the bed, like she owned it”.

“I had about that much of the bed,” she added with a laugh, pointing to a tiny dot.

“Right now, I just wanted to get something that we could both have, take care of and have as an addition to the family,” Blanchard said of the puppy. “We’re not ready for a baby yet, so this was the next best thing.”

For those already hoping for more Pixie content, Blanchard assured her followers that there are “many, many more videos and pictures of the puppies” to come, adding that “any potty training tips would be appreciated!”

Blanchard, a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, married Anderson, a teacher from Louisiana, while in prison for her role in the murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

Since she was released from prison last month after serving eight of 10 years, the couple have been open about wanting to expand their family.

Before her release, Blanchard told PEOPLE that she had goals of starting a family and having children. Because she had a strained relationship with her own mother – and never lived with her father Rod and stepmother Kristy – she said people wondered what kind of mother she would be, which hurt her feelings.

Whenever someone says, ‘Do you think because of what you’ve been through, you’re going to do that to your children?’ And I said, ‘You know what? Absolutely not. I learned what not to do,’ she told PEOPLE.

Blanchard also cited Anderson’s mother and her own stepmother as strong women to look up to as a parent.

“I have other mother figures that are present in my life, friends who are mothers,” she told PEOPLE. “So I have a lot of good people around me that I can look to for advice when the time comes. I don’t think there’s going to be a manual that says, ‘You’ve won mother of the year,’ but I definitely have no worries about, I think, my parenting when at that time.”
