Gypsy Rose Blanchard Cuts Off 8 Inches of Hair for Donation — and Shares a Selfie of Her New Look

Gypsy Rose Blanchard brings personal change with powerful impact.

Since her early release from prison on December 28, Gypsy, 32, has used social media as a platform to celebrate her daily milestones with her followers.

Her content revolved around everything from her love life with husband Ryan Anderson to daily wear clips. And she recently updated fans on her dramatic hair transformation, which she did for a reason.

Gypsy shared on TikTok and Instagram over the weekend that she cut off eight inches of her hair.

In her post, she included a selfie with her new look, captioned with the hashtag #expressyourself, and a photo of her cropped locks.

“It’s never too late to start reinventing yourself, even if it’s something as subtle as a new haircut. To all the girls, boys and those who are non-binary… enjoy life, express yourself in whatever creative way makes you happy. Life is too short to hide your beauty. Let the world see you shine!” she wrote next to a slide with pictures.

She then made a TikTok video in which she explained the reason for the big change.

“So what I’ve wanted to do for a really long time is donate my hair to a charity that makes wigs for people who have hair loss or who are going through cancer,” she shared, adding that she plans to send her locks to The Great Cut.

The charity is in partnership with Children with Hair Loss, providing hair replacements to children with medically related hair loss at zero cost to their families.

She continued: “I’ve had my own personal experience with hair loss not for medical reasons, but if you know my story, you’re well aware of those reasons.”

Growing up, Gypsy was vicariously victimized by Munchausen syndrome, a rare psychological disorder in which a caregiver, often the person’s mother, seeks attention and medical attention due to exaggerated or fabricated symptoms of the child in their care.

Her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, caught her in a web of medical lies, including a fake cancer diagnosis, which caused Gypsy to shave off her hair.

Gypsy later served seven years for pleading guilty to manslaughter for her role in Dee Dee’s murder.

“For me, not having hair was very difficult for my confidence. So I just want to do something to help other people who are going through hair loss because I know the only time I felt beautiful was when I was wearing a wig,” Gypsy explained as she shared an old hairless photo.

She ended the video by pulling her hair out of a ponytail to fully show off her shorter wavy style. “I think it looks kind of cute,” she said.
