Gypsy Rose Blanchard is speaking out for the first time since being released from prison on Thursday.
“Hey everyone, this is Gypsy. I’m finally free,” the 32-year-old said in a video posted on TikTok and her official Instagram on Sunday. “I just wanted to send a quick video to thank everyone for the massive support I’ve been getting on social media, everyone has been really, really nice and supportive and I really appreciate it.”
She’s outside in the video, wearing a New Orleans Saints NFL jersey, brown hair down, and makeup on her face.
“It’s good to be home. I’m back home in Louisiana, I’m enjoying a beautiful day outside and I’ve got a lot of great things coming up,” Blanchard continued.
She has been active on social media since her release, posting selfies and pictures from homecoming celebrations on her platforms, but Sunday marked the first time she addressed the public in a video.

Blanchard told her followers about her upcoming Lifetime docuseries, Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchardwhich begins on January 5. She also mentioned her upcoming book, Published: Conversations on the eve of freedomwhich she said she was “super proud of”.
“It’s not a rehash of everything that happened, it’s more my reflection of everything I’ve learned and experienced in the last 8.5 years,” she said.

She served 8 years in prison for her role in the murder of her mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard and was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri on Thursday.
Blanchard and her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, were charged with Dee Dee’s murder after the woman was found dead in June 2015. After Blanchard’s arrest, authorities learned she was a victim of Munchausen syndrome, a form of abuse in which a caregiver exaggerates or induces illness in a child.

Blanchard pleaded guilty to her role in her mother’s murder in July 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On Sunday, Blanchard also posted a picture on Instagram of herself wearing her wedding ring. “I finally get to wear my beautiful wedding ring 💗 I love you @ryan_s_anderson_,” she captioned the post.
She married her husband, a Louisiana teacher named Ryan Scott Anderson, on June 27, 2022, while she was still serving a prison sentence.
