Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen Are in ‘a Serious Relationship’: ‘They’re Both Very Family-Oriented’ (Exclusive)

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen’s relationship continues to evolve.

A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that it is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse star and the Buffalo Bills quarterback are in a “serious relationship,” nearly eight months after the pair were first seen spending time together last May.

“They always planned to spend more time together after his season was over. Things were going really well,” says the source. “They’re both very family-oriented and driven and want to protect their relationship and keep it private. They were on the same page with all of that.”

Steinfeld and Allen, both 27, have kept their romance largely private over the past few months, though they have been seen out on dates several times. The couple made their first public appearance together in October, when they attended the Buffalo Sabres’ NHL season opener against the New York Rangers. Most recently, Steinfeld and Allen were photographed together in Laguna Niguel, California in January, a week after the Kansas City Chiefs knocked Allen and the Bills out of the NFL playoffs.

“Hailee is in a great place and would love to settle down if she’s with the right guy,” a Steinfeld source told PEOPLE.

After Steinfeld and Allen were first seen together in May, a source told PEOPLE that the pair had “been hanging out for a few weeks” and were a “cute couple.”

“It’s new, but they’re having fun,” the source added at the time. In June, a source additionally told PEOPLE that Steinfeld and Allen are “still dating and getting to know each other.” A few months later, in October, Steinfeld was seen spending time with Allen’s mother Lavonne in East Aurora, New York, when the store Leveled Up Buffalo shared a photo on Instagram showing Edge of Seventeen star and Lavonne pose with their owner Lindsey Vega.

Allen, who has been the Bills’ starting quarterback since 2019, briefly reflected on his relationship with Steinfeld during an appearance on Pardon My Take podcast back in August.

“The fact that anyone cares about it still blows my mind,” Allen said when asked about the attention given to the couple’s relationship. “I just felt this terrible feeling — insecurity, no privacy,” he added of the photos of him and Steinfeld in public.
