Halle Bailey Jokes She Has ‘Mom Brain Now’ on 2024 People’s Choice Awards Carpet

Halle Bailey is head over heels for her newborn son Halo!

Still, the 23-year-old joked with host Laverne Cox during Sunday’s 2024 People’s Choice Awards pre-show that she’s a little more forgetful since welcoming her first-born.

“This is an archive of … something, I don’t remember,” she said when asked about her awards look. “But that’s okay, I can never remember, now I have my mother’s brain and yes, I’m so excited to be here.”

Bailey announced in an Instagram post on January 6 that she and her boyfriend DDG welcomed a baby together. The photo shows the actress’ manicured hand – topped by a gold bracelet engraved with the name “Halo” – holding her son’s tiny hand.

“It’s been going so great! I’m so obsessed — it’s such a chore to get out of the house because I don’t even want to go anywhere,” Little Mermaid star opened up to Cox, 51, about life as a first-time mother. “Like I’m rushing back to him, yes.”

During Bailey’s appearance on E!’s live broadcast before the ceremony, she said she “feels so amazing” after welcoming Halo to the world. “I love him so much.” she said of her son; recently told PEOPLE that DDG, 26, first came up with the idea for his name.

“We just hit it off and loved it,” she said. “I like the name Halo.”

Bailey is nominated for Best Female Movie Star of the Year. Sunday’s awards show for the lead role of Ariel in Disney’s 2023 live-action remake. Little Mermaid. The film also received nominations for Movie Performance of the Year (Melissa McCarthy, for the role of the villainous Ursula), Movie of the Year at Sunday’s awards.
