Tom Hiddleston was caught on camera in an unexpected moment at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.
During introductory monologue at the award ceremonyhost Simu Liu discussed how Taylor Swift dominated pop culture last year, thanks to her Eras Tour and her movie, as well as her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce.
“Finally, for the most legendary pop culture moment of the year, who could forget that little movie about a blonde American icon that had the whole country dressing up, dancing the night away and making big waves at the box office. I’m talking, of course, about Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour movie,” he said, fooling the audience into thinking he was referring to his own movie, Barbie.

He continued: “Oh, I’m sorry if you thought I was going to say the other one – no, no. Look, I was a Swiftie long before I was Ken. Okay? I just wanted to be super clear about where my loyalties lie. I I’m a 1989 baby, so Taylor and I are getting close.”
While Shang-Chi star, 34, education in 1989 — a nod to Swift’s fifth studio album — the camera panned to Hiddleston, 43, who briefly dated the singer in 2016, and appeared to be laughing in the moment.
Following her split from Calvin Harris, the “I Can See You” singer, 34, began a romance with Thor: Ragnarok actor after meeting at the Met Gala in 2016. Their high-profile relationship included trips to Swift’s homes in Rhode Island and Nashville, as well as Hiddleston’s native England. After three months of dating, the duo broke up in September 2016.

Even after their breakup, months later, Loki the star praised his ex-girlfriend. “Of course it was real,” Hiddleston said GQ in 2017. “Taylor is an amazing woman. She’s generous, kind and lovely, and we had the best time.”
Hiddleston is up for Male TV Star of the Year at Sunday night’s People’s Choice Awards for his title role in Loki. The series won the award for the best science fiction/fantasy series. When the star was accepting the award, he must have thanked his fiancee Zawa Ashton.
“Zawe, none of this makes sense without you,” Hiddleston said. “Thank you for your love and support every step of the way.”
