Halle Berry Says She and Angelina Jolie ‘Bonded’ by ‘Talking a Lot About Divorces and Exes’ 

Halle Berry opens up about her friendship with Angelina Jolie as the two prepare for their next film Maude vs. Maude.

In an interview with Diversity, Berry, 57, spoke about her upcoming project — which marks her second directorial venture — in which she stars and co-produces with Jolie, 48. The actresses, while excited to be working together now, apparently didn’t always get along so well.

“We had a rough start and I think that will serve us well in our time together,” Berry told the outlet before saying she was “thrilled to be working with another woman and creating a story with our sensibilities and from our point of view . view. She is terrible.”

While John Wick the actress joked that the story behind their conflict is “good”, she is not ready to share it with the public. However, she hinted at what cemented the friendship.

“We talked a lot about divorces and exes,” the actress noted. “We got close, let’s just say that.”

Berry was previously married to Olivier Martinez, and the couple’s divorce was finalized in August, eight years after filing. Jolie and actor Brad Pitt were married for four years before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. The two have been in a legal battle in the years since.

Maude vs. Maude, which Berry described as a mix of comedy, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mission Impossibleit will feature two women struggling “physically and intellectually,” but it’s also heartwarming.

“It’s a love story at its core, but it deals with the supernatural, time travel and the future.”

As for the start of filming, the Oscar winner said that she is still in the process of looking for locations.

“We plan to tour the whole world,” she said. “Warner Bros. has bought our script and for us it’s about going to places that have never been shown on screen before.”

In response to Varieties profile, Berry took over X (formerly Twitter) interact with fans who are waiting for her next project.

“Someone just tweeted ‘mother’ and now I’m laughing really hard. I’m glad you’re as excited about this project as I am,” she wrote on Wednesday.

In 2020, Berry made her directorial debut with her film bruises, about a former MMA fighter played by Berry herself on the road to redemption. When asked about the process, she called it “hell.”

“Because I was a woman, and a black woman, the treatment I received and the things I had to endure were unconscionable,” she said. “If I were white or even black, it would be easier. It’s amazing that I even made it and Netflix bought it like a miracle.”
