It’s a love story between Taylor Swift and Mariska Hargitay’s new cat.
The “Anti-Hero” singer, 33, shared her thoughts on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit actress who named her new cat “Karma”, inspired by Swift’s hit song of the same name, which is on her latest album, Midnight.
In late November, Hargitay, 59, shared photos of her new cat on Instagram and introduced the pet, captioning the photos with clever references to Swift’s song.
“Karma is a cat @taylorswift Meet Karma. My cat.🐱,” Hargitay wrote. She then tagged “MeAndKarmaVibeLikeThat,” “AndIKeepMySideOfMyPawClean” and “KarmaIsACat.”
Swift commented below the post: “You serious?!!!! Nothing has ever come full circle like this ⭕️ I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! 😻”
Mariska Hargitay got a new cat and named the pet after Taylor Swift: ‘Karma is a cat’
The “full circle” moment Swift mentions is related to her cat, Olivia Benson, who was named after Hargitay’s character in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2015, Swift shared a video of Hargitay meeting the cat, which Swift got in 2014, and shared that things were “going well.”
The singer and the starlet have been friends for years. The actress appeared in Swift’s music video for “Bad Blood” in 2015. And when Swift was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people that same year, Hargitay wrote a short essay on her behalf.
The singer is “a megawatt talent, an extraordinary spirit, an incredibly charming mix of mischievousness, poise and brilliance,” Hargitay wrote.
Taylor Swift jokes about her reaction to being named Time Person of the Year 2023: ‘Can I bring my cat?’
She was also in the stands when the Eras Tour stopped in Los Angeles. Hargitay shared photos of herself with Savannah Guthrie at the show and described the concert as “the most magical night.” When the concert film The Eras Tour hit theaters, Hargitay showed her support by attending its premiere in Los Angeles with her daughter Amaya Josephine.
Both Swift and Hargitay have been vocal about their love of cats. The pop star has three beloved cats, including Olivia Benson, Meredith Gray (introduced in 2011) and Benjamin Button (introduced in 2019).

Benjamin Button was featured with Swift on one of her covers for Time’s Person of the Year 2023. In the shot, Swift poses in a long-sleeved black bodysuit and black tights with a Ragdoll cat draped over her neck.
Swift said she met the cat as a kitten on the set of her music video for “ME!” and took him home after the shoot. A few days later, Swift introduced him to the world on Instagram with a sweet photo of the two, writing, “And then there were three…”
