Halle Berry Speaks Out About Alleged 'Shady' Tactic Used to Mislead Her Into Making X-Men: The Last Stand

Halle Berry opens up about allegedly “shady” tactics used to try to get her to appear in X-Men: The Last Stand.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, October 6, the actress, 58, acknowledged director Matthew Vaughan’s claims that 20th Century Fox had sent her a fake script to persuade her to sign up for 2006. The X-Men continuation.

“You just never know what s— is going on behind your back! Thank you Matthew Vaughn for bringing the darkness to light 🕯️,” Berry wrote as she re-shared the video of Vaughan making her accusations.

In the video, the British director explained during the panel that he had resigned as the film’s director The X-Men partly a continuation of the alleged tactics on Berry that he exposed from the studio.

“This is a true story: Hollywood is really political and out of touch,” he said. “I went into one of the executive offices and I saw X-Men 3 script and I knew right away that it was much thicker. I asked myself, ‘What the hell is this draft? They said, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ ”

Vaughan claimed to have read the script, which included a plot heavily centered around Berry’s character in the film, The Storm. “I said, ‘Oh, this is a nice, cool idea. what is this They said, ‘Oh, it’s a Halle Berry script. Because she hasn’t applied yet. But that’s what she wants it to be and when she applies, we’ll throw it in the bin,’ he said.

“And I said, ‘Wow, you’re going to do that to an Oscar-winning actress who plays Storm? I’m getting out of here.’ So at that point I quit,” Vaughan recalled.

Berry ended up acting X-Men: The Last Stand as Storm, after playing the iconic superhero character in the first comic book film adaptation and sequels that ran until 2014. Although Vaughn did not end up directing X-Men: The Last Stand (replaced by Brett Ratner), returned to the franchise to direct in 2011. X-Men: First Class.

The actress appeared in films opposite Hugh Jackman who played Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, James Marsden as Cyclops, Anne Paquin as Rogue and many more.

Before learning of Vaughan’s alleged claims of studio tactics, Berry stated in 2021 that she would “absolutely” be open to revisiting her character Storm from the franchise.

The actress told Vanity Fair“I loved playing Storm, and people love Storm. If we could find a version that made sense or a story that made sense, I would absolutely do that, for sure.”
