Happy Africa Day 2023: The annual celebration of Africa’s independence, sovereign rule and identity is known as African Liberation Day or Africa Day. This date is considered to be the founding date of the Organization of African Unity on 25 May 1963. In 1958, Accra, the capital of Ghana, celebrated the first African Liberation Day.
The main purpose of the celebration is to draw attention to the damage that colonialism has done to the African continent and to the unity of Africa as a whole. It represents an attempt to restore a sense of continental identity and cohesion. According to the website Black Alliance for Peace, this year’s theme is: “Breaking New Colonialism! The African people are ready for a revolution!” Because, according to the United Nations, the theme of STI Day in Africa aligns with the theme of the 2023 Africa Regional STI Forum to “promote development.” development and dissemination of new technologies for an inclusive, green environment and resilient Africa”.
