Happy Bizzle to Snoop Dogg!
The Doggfather turns 52 on October 20 — and in honor of his “birthday month” (as he likes to celebrate), he recently released a limited-edition flavor of his ice cream brand, Dr. Bombay, which is sold at Walmart. Flavor? A birthday party, of course, which tastes like yellow cake with candy sprinkles, crushed pretzels and chocolate frosting.
“I kept coming to the store and having to get two or three different brands of ice cream at once, mixing and matching to get the flavors I wanted,” he tells PEOPLE of how he got into the ice cream brand business. “Somebody had to do it right, why not me? I needed a piece of the action! I’m always on my own.” He adds, “Besides, ice cream is more than just a snack for me. It’s a way to relax and unwind.”

And his secret why he looks so good at 52? He says it’s all about the positive outlook and a loving group of family and friends.
“You have to treat yourself, don’t fool yourself,” he says. “Like a good wine, I age better with time. But really, we only have a short time here, so I’m making the most of life and trying to be the best version of myself every day, surrounding myself with good people, positive energy and love.”

The rapper says he’s ready to kick off his birthday month, especially since he just finished his High School Reunion US tour, which he co-headlined with Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort, Warren G and Berner.
“It’s been amazing. It’s great to be on the road with my friends who have achieved so much in this industry,” he says. “We got to see people of all ages and backgrounds pass by, from grandmothers to babies. I think it’s a confirmation not only of the work I’ve put in, but also of the love I’ve shown the world. I was able to develop from generation to generation by being faithful to what I am.”
He adds that he was brought up that way; “My mom taught me to love everyone from all walks of life, so I continued to spread that love to the world.”

As for his favorite flavor Dr. Bombay?
“My kids love it, you can’t pick just one favourite, but Iced Out Orange Cream is definitely one I’ll always eat,” says the father of four. “It’s that vanilla ice cream mixed with orange sorbet and a little orange swirl. I also have some tricks up my sleeve for the next round of flavors that might take the top spot.” He adds that his culinary skills do not stop only at designing ice cream flavors:
“I can throw down in the kitchen!” says, “I think people would be surprised by the range of my cooking game.”
