He attended Yogi Arvind Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya classes in Delhi. Harsh grew up in a humble family and got hooked on acting at a very young age by watching Bollywood movies and TV shows. His parents could not afford acting lessons for him. So, his uncle enrolled him in Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s acting studio from 2005 to 2008, which launched him into acting and prepared him for a series of auditions in dancing, singing and acting Prepare. Harsh always avoided schooling and when he grew up, he participated in various local plays at Mandi House on Broadway in Delhi. In an interview, he recalled his first days in the theater, saying:
First, I work in the background. In my first stage performance, I played the role of a monkey. It’s fun and exciting. Even my mother was shocked to see me. “

Although he first auditioned for the film Cillar Party (2011), but was rejected, he later played the role of Chotu in I Am Kalam (2010). He talked about the same thing in an interview and said:
I was rejected for the film “Cillar Party” and finally got selected out of 3,000 people for “I Am Kalam”. “

Harsh Mayar made his acting debut in the 2011 Indian Hindi children’s film I Am Kalam, in which he played the lead role of Chhotu (aka Kalam). Produced by the non-governmental charity Smile Foundation, the film tells the story of Chotu, a poor boy who forms an unlikely and uneasy friendship with the lonely son of an aristocrat. The film won various accolades and catapulted Harsh Mayal to fame. He was also nominated for the Color Screen Award for Best Child Artist (2012) for his role as Chotu.
In 2012, he appeared in the Indian Hindi children’s film Jhapali: The Mermaid of the Desert, where he played Ajit, a boy who leads a group of children in Madogarh village.

In 2013, he starred in the Indian-American English-language film Desire, playing the role of Nanu.
In 2014, he played the role of Awdesh in the Indian Hindi thriller “Chaarfutiya Chhokare”. The film tells the story of Neha Malini, an NRI who returns to India and establishes a school in Bihar. When she meets Avadesh, Hari and Gorak, three boys who want to join the school, she slowly begins to discover the hardships, obstacles, and risks that await her in this seemingly peaceful village. In 2018, he starred in the Bollywood film Hichki as Aatish, a 9F student from a nearby slum who is admitted to St. Nok School to fill the government quota for poor students.
