The Saggarian singer was born on December 16, 1986 in Delhi, India (32 years old as of 2018). She comes from a family with a musical background; her father used to build musical instruments and was an excellent guitarist. When she was 4 years old, her father first noticed her singing talent when she hummed a movie song. She started singing at the age of 5 and developed a keen interest in Punjabi and Sufi music.

At the age of 6, she began taking Indian classical music lessons with Tejpal Singh and Western music lessons with George Pulinkala.

At the age of 12, she entered the Delhi Music Academy to study piano. When she was 16, she entered the MTV Video Gaga contest and was selected out of 10,000 contestants.

Her singing talent was first noticed by music lovers when she sang the devotional song “Ik Onkar” for the film Rang De Basanti (2006).

In 2008, she participated in NDTV Imagine’s singing reality show Junoon – Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka and competed from the Sufi Ke Sultan team under the guidance of Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. She won the competition, which had Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan as the final guests. Winning the singing competition opened doors in Bollywood for her.

She aspired to be a musician from an early age and began her musical activities while attending New Era Public School and Springdales School in Derry. She graduated from SNDT University, Mumbai. As a teenager, she made her debut in the music industry with the album Romantica (2002), and a year later she made her debut in Bollywood with the song “Sajna Main Haari” from the film Aapko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai (2003) Debut. ).
