Harvey Keitel’s Portrayed As A Cus D’Amato In “Mike”

Mike, a biopic of the legendary Mike Tyson starring Harvey Keitel, will air on Hulu on August 25, 2022. The eight-part mini-series will follow the life of boxing great Mike Tyson inside and outside the ring. The drama comes from the mind of creator and screenwriter Steven Rogers and features a host of unique cast members. Among them are Trevante Rhodes from Moonlight, Laura Harrier from Hollywood and Harvey Keitel, star of the New Hollywood Movement and favorite of Martin Scorcese.

What is Harvey Keitel famous for and who is he?

Harvey Keitel, a gifted but underappreciated actor, became known for his portrayals of ethically ambiguous and “tough guy” roles. At the height of the New Hollywood movement, he appeared in six Martin Scorsese films. Keitel was born on May 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York City, and trained with Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, and even HB Studio. He was cast in Martin Scorcese’s Who’s That Knocking at My Door while working on Broadway shows (1967). It was also the beginning of the director’s spectacular career, which helped define the future of the Hollywood business.

Harvey served in the Marines before his acting career. After his dismissal, he worked as a court stenographer for 10 to 12 years. After a successful performance in Scorcese’s first film, he returned to star in Mean Streets (1973).
