Hayden Panettiere Remembers Her Brother on 1-Year Anniversary of His Death: ‘We’ll Meet Again’

Hayden Panettiere pays tribute to her late brother Jansen.

On Monday, the 34-year-old actress posted a touching message on Instagram in memory of her sibling as she marked the first anniversary of his death.

“Today is 1 year since the death of my younger brother. Know that I keep him in my heart, I keep his things close,” she wrote in the description. “His AMAZING pictures are what I see when I wake up and when I go to sleep.”

“Rest in peace my brother. One day we will meet again. 🙏❤️,” the Scream VI concluded the star.

Along with her message of respect, Hayden shared a photo of herself and Jansen cuddling a dog as the pair sat on the beach in wetsuits.

After receiving many messages of support in the comments section of her last post, The Nashville the star replied to her followers: “Thank you for all the love.”

Jansen was found dead in New York last February at the age of 28. In a statement to PEOPLE shortly afterward, Hayden and Jansen’s mother, Lesley Vogel, and father, Alan Lee “Skip” Panettiere, confirmed that he died of complications from an aortic valve and an enlarged heart.

Hayden’s latest tribute to her brother Jansen comes after she celebrated his 29th birthday in September.

At the time, the actress posted an emotional message on Instagram, sharing a memory of her and her brother opening presents for Christmas as little kids.

“Happy birthday little brother,” Hayden wrote in the caption. “I miss you every day. I will love you forever❤️.”

Jansen acted alongside his older sister on television and in films, appearing in Even Stevens, The walking dead, Perfect game, A child of martial arts and Racing stripes. He was also a passionate artist and displayed his portraits and abstract paintings on his Instagram profile.

After his death, the Panettiere family shared in a statement to PEOPLE, “Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes and his charm in his brilliant, engaging smile; his soul in his masterly and revealing pictures, and his joy of life in his dry wit. His charisma, warmth, compassion for others and his creative spirit will live forever in our hearts and in the hearts of everyone he met.”

The statement concluded: “We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of love and support for our family as we navigate this unimaginable loss and ask that we be granted our privacy during this time of grief. We love you so much, Jansen, and you will be in our hearts forever.”
