Hayley Erbert Tells Newlywed Valentine Derek Hough ‘I Love You More and More Every Single Day’

Hayley Erbert is celebrating her first Valentine’s Day as a newlywed!

After a recent medical scare and subsequent recovery, the 29-year-old professional dancer took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to her husband Derek Hough and reflect on their love story.

“Our love over the years 🥹❤️‍🔥,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of the couple over the years. “I love you more and more every day. Happy (first) Valentine’s Day, husband!”

Erbert and Hough, 38, got married in August 2023. The couple has been together since 2015.

The announcement comes two months after Erbert underwent an “emergency craniectomy” on Dec. 7 after suffering a cranial hematoma during the couple’s tour in Washington, D.C. Erbert then underwent further surgery on Dec. 20 to “replace a large portion of her skull” that was removed during the initial procedure.

After a successful second surgery, Hough shared his gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans and loved ones.

“This surgery marks a significant milestone in my wife’s recovery, and your support has played a key role in getting us here,” he wrote on Instagram in late December. “We are filled with hope and optimism for the future, knowing that she is on the road to a full recovery, surrounded by a loving community.”

Earlier this month, Hough and Erbert talked about “from the highest high to the lowest of the lowest” as they talked about their experience and her recovery in an emotional video posted on Instagram.

“It’s been wild … But I have to say that through this experience this woman has been incredible, and her perseverance and her acceptance of the whole situation, her strength, it’s been remarkable to witness firsthand,” Hough said. “She really is a miracle and it was and still is an amazing journey.”

Speaking for the first time since her craniectomy, Erbert said: “To this day I still have really good days and I still have really bad days – sometimes emotionally and physically – but I’m getting better every day. There really is so much progress every day and I’m very grateful for that.”

The couple again thanked fans for their support as Erbert also revealed her short hair and the surgery scar on the top of her head.

“A new haircut, a new scar, a new bag of fluid on the side of my face, which should eventually go away,” she said, adding that after the surgery she has a “new outlook on life” and is “grateful to be alive and to be here to tell my story.”
