The man was treated at the scene for arm injuries before being arrested on suspicion of murder, coercive or controlling behavior and criminal damage.

The 36-year-old remains in custody, and officers have been given additional time to question him.

Joanna’s devastated family have now paid tribute to a “special daughter, aunt and sister”.

Her sister wrote a heartbreaking poem, saying: “We will always love you sweet angel.

“You didn’t deserve this. I will fight for justice until my last breath. I promise.”

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed it had made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) during previous contact.

According to her Facebook page, Joanna was a branch manager at recruitment group CRS.

Friends and colleagues showered tributes to the Pole.

Viola Signejeva said: “I am happy to know Jo not only as a colleague but also as a very good friend.

“She was always a source of positivity, energy and enthusiasm. It’s too soon for her. Rest in peace, Jo.

“I miss you and send my deepest condolences to your family and friends.”

While Aniya Malkosz added: “I can’t imagine never seeing you again. Nothing will ever be the same without you here… I miss you.

“Goodbye Sunshine.”
