Heathrow Airport hit the main delays – after the car exploded on the M4, causing it to close.
The vehicle broke into the flames within the highway tunnels in the early hours of the morning.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene around 3am, but the car remained completely destroyed.
The highway was closed south between the J4 and J4A after the incident.
In the hosts of the holidays, access to Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 was “limited,” a spokesman said.
Instead, it was advised that public transport to the airport – or use the M25 J14 or M4 J3.
All roads have been open since then – but congestion are underway at and around the airport.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “We are invited today just before 3am at the reports of a car fire in a tunnel near Heathrow Airport.
“Firefighters attended and discovered a car completely.
“The fire must have been extinguished by firefighters and no one was reported to be injured.”
In a earlier statement, a spokesman said: “We sent two fire engine to the scene, but after the fire was extinguished, the car was completely destroyed.
“The fire was under surveillance by 3.45pm. London ambulance was invited to the scene, but there are no injuries reports. We left the scene at 4.30.”
The vehicle was originally reported to be electric, but subsequent investigations revealed that the diesel drive, the fire department added.
Postling on the X this morning, a spokesman for the national highway said: ” #M4 Southbound Spur #heathrow in #gareterlondon was closed between the M4 J4 and J4A for a fire in a tunnel vehicle.
“Emergency service are present.
“Please allow extra time for your trip. Thanks for your patience.”
However, it is implied that all roads are reopened.
Heathrow Airport spokesman said: “A earlier vehicle fire that has influenced the road access to Terminals 2 and 3 has now been resolved.
“All roads have reopened, but they continue to congestion around the airport.
“We apologize for the disorder caused this morning.”
That this morning she was not the only headache for Heathrow passengers – which was also said to be expected to disorder the railway between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4.
This caused a fire next to the track, National Rail said.
However, the net said that trains are now moving as usual.
