Heidi Klum opens up about her Halloween fears.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the Crazy Pizza grand opening in New York City on Tuesday, Oct. 29, the 51-year-old model revealed that she gets “anxious” before revealing her elaborate costumes.
“I’m always anxious,” Klum says. “Because there is no real trial. like, I can’t do a real rehearsal before I’m in it. Because I never know if everything works until the day [of]. And then you know, and then something happens and I’m like, ‘Oh, God.’ ”
Speaking of the previous mishap with her costume, America has talent The judge tells PEOPLE, “When I was an apple, like, you know, Seal, and he was Eve.”
“And because I was nine months pregnant, and I wanted to make sure nothing could hurt the baby or anything,” she continues. “I was thinking about being this big apple, but then we forgot how am I going to get to the party?”

Klum — who was married to Seal, 61, from 2005 to 2014 — adds: “Look, I couldn’t fit in anything, so I couldn’t fit through a normal car door. So at the last minute they had to get me a convertible so I could even get in the car and drive there.”
The German-born star is known for her extravagant Halloween costumes at her annual New York Halloween party. Last year, she dressed up as a peacock for her party at the Marquee nightclub.
Elsewhere in her conversation with PEOPLE, Klum talked about how her kids love having creative control over their Halloween costumes.

The TV personality, who is now married to musician Tom Kaulitz, shares Leni (20), Henry (19), Johan (17) and Lou (15) with Seal.

“Yes, I mean, they have their own ideas. I mean, Lou, especially she makes her own stuff,” she says. “She also really likes anime. She makes all the wigs herself, you know, as well as all the pink ones that don’t just fall like that.”
She adds: “They have the same points and similar things so she does it herself. She is quite talented, I must say, more talented than I am when it comes to building things.”
“She buys all the supplies and then puts on a little mask, you know, but like the real one,” continues the proud mom. “She [wears the mask] when she seems to be grinding things and building things.”
Klum adds: “So that she doesn’t know, breathe in all the dust.” But she does things… she does them right. If anyone has a big problem with grooming and that, it would be my Lou.”
