Helena Christensen Rewears One of Her 1996 Runway Looks for 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party with a ‘Little Secret’

The model brought back the look of John Galliano from years past

Helena Christensen amazes no matter what year it is!

On Monday, the supermodel (55) revealed that the dress she wore to the 2024 annual vanity fair The Oscar party after the 2024 Oscars happened to be a look she had already worn – years before.

“I’m so excited to be able to step back into one of my favorite dresses I wore on the runway in 1996,” she began in an Instagram post.

She added, “The corset isn’t completely closed, but that will be my little secret 😉.”

Her black dress with a sweetheart neckline is from John Galliano Spring/Summer 1996. There is a black and white frill on the right shoulder, which extends over the bust.

For her 2024 look, Christensen wore her hair parted to the side as her curls gave off a glamorous old Hollywood vibe. She wore a bold red lip and matched it with manicured red nails.

In her Instagram post, the Danish-born model shared a photo of herself in the dress when she wore it for the first time on the runway. For the original look, her hair was pulled up and she wore bare lips.

“Thank you @sooparkmakeup and @owengould for spending time with me yesterday getting me ready 💃🏻❣️@jgalliano,” she concluded, showing gratitude to her team and designer for helping her feel and look her best at the event.

Fans were delighted by the fact that she could still take off the dress decades later.

“Which photo is 96? 💜”, one person wrote in the comments. Another added: “Once a supermodel, always a supermodel 😍❤.”

Christensen’s fellow models in the modeling industry also chimed in, sending her compliments in the comments section.

“Gorrrrgeous 💎,” wrote Gigi Hadid. “Glamourous kitty! I loved seeing you! 🔥,” added Cindy Crawford.

Christensen and Crawford, 58, have a long history together as models.

In May 2023, Christensen shared a photo on Instagram of Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber, 22, Christensen’s son Mingus Lucien Reedus, 24, and Christy Turlington’s daughter Grace Burns, 20, sitting on a sofa while smiling for the camera.

Their children recreated a photo their moms took in what appeared to be the same gathering place. The group posed together for several photos on the carousel.

“Friendships for life 💫 We are extremely grateful for these women, we love them and our children so much ♥️,” Christensen wrote in the caption of the stream.

And despite her love for those in the industry, later that year she admitted it was a good thing she didn’t come back.

When we talk about the documentary series of Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Turlington and Linda Evangelista Supermodels in September 2023, she said WWD that she respected their decision to do so but had no interest in being involved.

“I think it’s amazing to see your friends doing something together that’s so lively, and [you’re] so happy for your friends,” she said of the show.

However, she also said she would “run away screaming” if she had to join them.

“There is nothing I would like to do less,” she admitted. “I’m too soft for that. I really don’t need to do the whole thing.”
