Hilarie Burton Morgan talks about how her nearest and dearest showed up when times got tough.
In a candid Instagram post on October 28, One Tree Hill Stipsa, 42, admitted that last year she was “unhappy” after “working too much”.
“So I decided to change the way I work so I could have more time to be involved in my kids’ lives,” she shared alongside a few photos from the Halloween event before adding that she’s now “happy” to be volunteering with “some of my favorite people on the planet.”

“We’ve had a lot of big events since school started – the town picnic at the school, the torchlight, Homecoming last week and the Halloween Festival yesterday, the fall show… there’s a lot and I’m sleeeeeeee,” she explained alongside the photos. “But also VERY happy. I love seeing these kids light up and watching more and more parents join in the fun.”
She then gave a special shout-out to those closest to her for their support amid the busy school season, starting with her husband Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with whom she posed wearing a witch costume.
“I also love how supportive my husband @jeffreydeanmorgan is,” she wrote. “I still shiver when that guy walks in the door.”

The actress added that it was her ex One Tree Hill Costar Sophia Bush and her girlfriend Ashlyn Harris also made a surprise trip to see her, saying: “And I LOVE that my angels @sophiabush and @ashlynharris24 surprised us with a visit and got a real taste of the small town community. Worlds colliding and appearing for each other in fun random ways……that’s true love baby.”
Bush and Harris posed with the actress in separate photos from the celebration.
Burton Morgan concluded her message by reflecting on how she believes Halloween is a holiday filled with love.
“Halloween is not a holiday that is usually associated with ‘love,'” she explained. “But for me? This is the moment when we shower each other with creativity and effort and mischief and CANDY! And what could be more loving than that?!?!”
She added: “You love our community. He loves my friends. He loves his family. Stay spooky, everyone. Xoxoxoxo”

Burton Morgan recently told PEOPLE that her greatest achievement is being a “haunted housewife” in her hometown.
While discussing her plans for Halloween 2024 with her son Augustus “Gus”, 14, and daughter George, 6, who she shares with her husband, she said: “My favorite thing we’ve ever done is get involved in school your child.”
“There really wasn’t a city celebration of Halloween,” she said. “So last year I put together a haunted house at my son’s high school. Each parent brought a 10×10 tent and we put them all together to make a whole house of rooms.”
“It was bananas!” Burton Morgan exclaimed. – This is probably my crowning achievement.
“I don’t care about television, I don’t care about books. If I can be a Haunted Housewife in my town, I’ve succeeded,” she joked, adding, “This year I have to do it bigger than last year. It’s a lot of pressure.”
