- In 2009, Salman Khan participated as a guest in a reality show judged by Himesh. Salman made a comment about Himish’s nasal voice, which must have made him anxious. - During a press conference in 2006, Himish called himself a rock star, mocked Sonu Nigam and questioned his popularity. This remark angered Sonu, who retorted Himesh that he was crazy and that the fame had gone to his head.
- Himish has previously been accused of singing with a nasal voice. In his reply, the singer had stated that great musicians like RD Burman, Mukesh and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan were never accused of singing in a nasal voice. However, this statement angered Asha Bhosle, who responded that if anyone thinks that Burmese Saab sings with his nose, he should be slapped. Responding to Asha, Himish said he had no intention of offending anyone. Additionally, he apologized to Asha Bhosle for his remarks.
- Himesh has been accused of copyright infringement. His song “Tanhaiyaan” from the movie “Aap Kaa Surroor” was originally composed for the movie “Milenge Milenge” (2010). The music company that owns the audio rights to “Milenge Milenge” accused Himesh of copyright infringement because Himesh’s film music had a different label. The singer defended himself by saying that he made Boney Kapoor listen to the song but he never included it in the film. He even claimed to have been in contact with Boney for seven months and since the film was not going anywhere, he decided to add the song to his film.
- Himesh once entered the Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Dargah in Ajmer wearing a burqa. His burqa-wearing sparked controversy. The singer apologized saying he visited the shrine wearing a burqa to avoid crowds and was sorry if his actions had hurt people’s religious sentiments. Later, the prayer attendants at the shrine also supported him, saying that everything he did was to pray for peace.
