Hit TV drama’s future in doubt after its biggest stars become ‘too big’ to appear in third series

ANYONE hoping to see another series of Euphoria shouldn’t hold their breath – studio bosses are still scrambling to match the schedules of their leading ladies.

The increasing star power of Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney made it extremely difficult to get them on the same set at the same time, resulting in the next season being put on hold.

A third season of Euphoria has become increasingly unlikely, with leads like Sydney Sweeney breaking into the film industry since the show was put on hold

This is despite the fact that the next installment of the HBO drama — which airs on Sky — has been ordered midway through the second series in 2022.

Creator Sam Levinson insists he remains committed to filming a third season, but admitted, “In the meantime, we’re allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

Those opportunities are coming thick and fast for both women, with Zendaya currently basking in the success of her latest Hollywood blockbuster, Dune: Part Two, and Sweeney getting major roles in White Lotus and the rom-com Anyone But You under her belt.

While that’s good news for them, it irritated the rest of the cast, including Nika King, who plays Zendaya’s on-screen mother.

She recently spoke out saying, “I need a third season.

“I haven’t paid my rent in six months and Zendaya is in Paris for Fashion Week.

“I say, ‘Come home! I need you!'”

Euphoria’s postponement comes after the savvy Zendaya renegotiated her contract to secure $1 million per episode in the next series.

Sydney is now rumored to be looking to do the same, but CEOs may see it as a worthwhile investment.

The series — which follows a group of teenagers navigating relationships, sex and addictions — remains one of the channel’s most-watched shows.

Fans may just have to wait a few more years before they can see him again.
