Hoda Kotb had a very likable reaction to Jordan Chiles winning the bronze medal that made history at the Summer Olympics in Paris!
The American gymnast, 23, may have made the podium in the women’s floor exercise final on Monday, August 5 – but her third-place finish didn’t come without a fight.
Chiles was initially in fifth place. But by NBC Sports, she got a tenth of a point back on her score after her coaches, including Cecile Landi, appealed the score on her behalf. After reviewing her routine, the judges gave Chiles full credit for the skill in her routine called the Gogean, which is a double jump involving a 1.5 twist.

Her initial score was 13.666, but the added ten meant a jump from fifth to third place. She joined Brazilians Rebecca Andrade and Simone Biles (who won gold and silver medals respectively) on the first all-black gymnastics podium in history.
After realizing that the gymnast’s coaches had disputed the score and that Chiles had won the bronze medal, Kotb, 59, had a similar reaction to Chiles (who didn’t know her coaches were making inquiries on her behalf) and it’s a lot of fun to watch.
The Today the co-host – wearing a bright blue dress in a video posted to Instagram on Monday – rose from her seat in shock, banging her hands on the table.
