Horror moment glass-bottomed walkway shatters sending tourist plunging to their death 30ft up above forest canopy

THIS was the terrifying moment a glass-bottom walkway shattered, sending a tourist to his death.

The tragedy occurred when 11 tourists were crossing the Geong Bridge in Indonesia at around 10am on Wednesday – about 30 feet above the forest floor.

Geong is a popular glass bridge that looks like it is being held by two huge golden hands.

Suddenly, the glass panels beneath their feet gave way, causing the four of them to fall.

The witness recalled hearing something like breaking glass around 10 a.m., according to local media.

Two fell through the glass into the Limpakuwus pine forest below, where one was later pronounced dead.

Another tourist received minor injuries.

Onlookers shared terrifying footage of two more people who managed to cling to the frame after the sudden collapse threw them.

The police are now investigating and have set up a crime scene.

It comes amid claims the attraction’s management overlooked complaints about the bridge’s safety.

Ekop Purnomo, president of Limpakuwus Pine Forest Cooperative, contacted manager Geong in April when the bridge opened, asking for a safety assessment, The Jakarta Post reported.

He said he approached the Geong manager after receiving complaints on social media, raising concerns about how safe the bridge would be.

Purnomo claimed that as many as five percent of visitors share complaints online.

He added that the bridge manager had decided not to attend the meeting to review the standards, sending a representative instead.

“There was no discussion. We just left a message,” he said Wednesday.

Purnomo has agreed to close the forest – which is managed separately from Geong Bridge – at the request of local police while the investigation continues.

Earlier this month, in China, a woman was killed on a water park ride after being thrown from an overturned raft.

The footage showed the thrill seeker screaming in panic as another boat raced towards her in China.

The chaotic scene first shows a woman clinging to an overturned raft and wrapping her arms around a small child.

The oncoming boat then slams into the two, knocking them further down the glass walkway.

Unable to refrain from pushing against the shore, the woman is seen cradling the child as she tries to keep the boat behind them.
